Professional development and support for teachers
Professional development for teachers through the Further Mathematics Support Programme
A key aim of the Further Mathematics Support Programme is to contribute to the continuing professional development of mathematics teachers. This page contains useful inforamtion and resources regarding professional development.
Teaching Further Mathematics (TFM)
TFM is for teachers of A level Maths who want to extend their subject knowledge or become familiar with the content of Further Mathematics units. It covers the material in the Further Pure Mathematics modules of the four English examination specifications from a teaching and learning perspective.
For more information please see: TFM details
Live online professional development (LOPD)
The LOPD programme offers innovative courses to enable teachers to teach A level Mathematics and A level Further Mathematics with confidence. Small groups of teachers meet weekly online with a tutor for sessions that aim cover subject content common to all current specifications and facilitate the exchange of teaching ideas between the teachers involved.

Support for Teachers
Local Teacher Networks focus on professional development for the teachers and promoting developments in Post 16 teaching and learning. Many teachers have found that attending FMSP revision events (local and online) is an excellent way to gain an overview of an A level Mathematics or Further Mathematics module and FMSP enrichment events can give knowledge and ideas beyond the syllabus.
Contact your local FMSP Area Coordinator to find out more about the opportunities in your region.
Local CPD events
There are courses for teachers of A level Maths and Further Maths taking place all over England.
For details of courses in your area have a look at the Local CPD events page for your region (see right for links) or contact your local Area Coordinator.
