Revision days archive
Revision days are a great opportunity for students to spend a day on intensive examination preparation.
A Revision Day usually focuses on the content of a specific unit, e.g. Core 1, Mechanics 1. Sometimes Revision Days are for one awarding body's specification only but often students are split into groups so that the day can cover more than one awarding body's specification. Most Revision Days are open to any student - please contact the Revision Day organiser to confirm whether this is the case, for details of costs and to confirm your attendance.
The majority of Revision Days are hosted at a University local to the Further Mathematics Centre. This has many benefits; school and college students value greatly opportunities to experience learning in a ‘different, new and inspirational’ environment that a university can bring. Generally there is also the opportunity for students to find out more about university courses and how they can build upon the mathematics that they are learning in their school/ college.
Revision Days are also an excellent CPD opportunity for teachers.
They provide a very time-efficient means for teachers to get an overview of a module, from basic content through to addressing tricky aspects of examination questions. If you are a teacher and would like to attend a Revision Day on this basis then please contact the organiser.

This session will cover:
Complex numbers, De Moivre’s Theorem and its applications
Roots of polynomial equations
Summation of Finite series
Inverse trigonometric functions
Hyperbolic Functions
Arc Length and Area of Surface of revolution
Though both the FP2 and FP3 sessions are based around the AQA specification the content may be useful revision for your students. Please contact the centre if you have another module for which you would like a revision session.
There will be a Numerical Methods (MEI) revision session (contact the Centre for the time/date).

West Yorks and leeds - Leeds University/Huddersfield University
We will run some C2 and C4 revision classes but we will be concentrating on the topics that are on most specifications:C2:Logarithms and Exponentials,
Trigonometry,
Sequences and Series:Sigma notation, Arithmetic and
Geometric Series,
Integration: Finding areas using integration and the
Trapezium Rule.
Core 4: Vectors (not planes),
Differential Equations: Forming and Solving,
Binomial Expansion,
Integration: Concentrating on using partial
fractions, integration by parts and volumes of revolution.
These will be held at Leeds University on May 8th 11am -3.30pm with a half hour break for lunch (bring your own) and will cost £8 with a revision pack provided.
Also, we will do the same at Huddersfield University on 31st May 10am-2.30pm. As above for lunch and cost.
There will be an FP1 session (MEI only) on Wednesday 9th May 12noon - 4.30pm at Leeds University and FP2(also MEI only)on Friday 1st June, 10am-3pm
Places must be booked and numbers are limited.
